Senior Designer, Contract Fabrics, 2/2002 – 12/2005
Translated artwork into jacquard fabrics for the high end contract upholstery market using Jacquad Design software.  Worked closely with New York designers, customers  and independent designers to achieve their desired looks.  Designed and submitted many of my own designs which were added to our overall customer offering with favorable placements.  Developed a rich and broad understanding of the contract upholstery market including styling, construction, colorwork, performance testing and finishing.  Developed highly efficient work habits with enabled me to be a very productive and competent designer.

Designer, Contract Fabrics, 1/2000 – 10/2001
Brought a variety of products to the marketplace including upholstery, panel fabric, wallcoverings, drapery and cubicle cloth.  Established time tables for products in development and worked closely with mills to achieve these timetables.  Researched market needs by studying trends and evaluating current sales figures.  Reviewed mill and studio presentations for new product, yarn and constructions.  Highly involved in coloring and editing mill blankets.  Trained on the Pointcarre CAD system.  Attended NeoCon and traveled to Steelcase to represent DesignTex.

Developed two furniture lines per year consisting of 60-70 patterns. Highly involved in selecting artwork for development, coloring and editing blankets for color lines.  Fostered relationships with many art studios and freelance artists.  Worked closely with customers and sales staff on requests for exclusive patterns and colorways.  Developed excellent communication skill between the technical designers at the mill who implemented my written instructions.  Traveled to High Point, NC for the furniture market shows and to meet with customers.

Translated artwork into jacquard fabrics for the furniture, residential jobber and contract markets.  Learned and operated EAT/CAD design system.  Worked closely with Director of Design and New York stylists to achieve desired constructions including: damask, multi-pick, tissues and metelasse.  Gained a great understanding of various types of repeats, weaves, warp layouts and warp/filling yarns.

Students explored the structural possibilities of double weave including tubular weaving, pick up and pocket cloth.  The nature of this class was experimental and explorative.
